My name is Chris Amat and I am a designer and photographer from Calgary, AB.
With a background in advertising and design, I have spent most of my career solving problems, telling stories and creating visually stimulating experiences for a number of industries. Staying inspired and constantly pushing myself to learn new skills has always helped me to stay motivated and creative. After collaborating with a few photographers for various projects, my interest in photography was sparked.
Since getting my first camera last July, I have been able to partner with a range of brands including Travel Alberta, Sport Chek and VSCO. With each project comes a new challenge and with each new challenge comes a new opportunity. Stepping out of your comfort zone and creating something new is one of the most creatively rewarding experiences. Being able to take that experience and share it with your peers can be just as rewarding, growing with each shared experience.
Part of staying inspired and creating better work with each project is surrounding yourself with like-minded people who share the same passion and drive. Since starting Great North Collective with David Guenther and Mike Seehagel, I have been fortunate enough to surround myself in a community that is growing bigger and bigger each day. I have shared stories, experiences, work and have created new friendships within this community. Seeing others share their stories and benefit from a community we built has been incredible. I look forward to the future and the opportunity it holds.
