I am Daniel, a photographer and outdoor enthusiast from Frankfurt, Germany.
Last year was crazy and full of changes. I decided to pack my bag with just essentials and boarded a plane to New Zealand where I was stuck for almost 10 months. The time really improved my photography skills and I luckily started with Instagram that allowed me to connect with many incredible people!
I felt like I was locked away behind my desk at my 9 to 5 job while outside my window thousands of adventures were awaiting! After complaining for too long I decided to make my dreams to reality.
First, it was absolutely worth it and I can only motivate people with a similar desire to do so too. I’ve learned to get along with myself, after I’ve done a few multi day hikes by myself, I somehow found my inner peace. I’ve learned to let things happen without worrying too much. One big lesson I’ve learned is that most times it will work out good.
Actually this just happened by chance. I heard of their accounts when I was in New Zealand and started following them. At some point Hannes and Jo got attentions of me and as it turned out we were both in Banff, Canada at the same time. At first we just wanted to meet for a beer, but in the end we traveled for a week together. When I was back in Germany they offered me to join their group.
It certainly has! Everyone in this group has their strengths which we can share and learn from each other. But more important we are a group of people with the same interests and it’s always a good feeling to be able to hang out with like minded people and do the things you love.
2016 will be kind of relaxed compared to the last year. During my time abroad I realized I don’t know much about Europe as I may should! So 2016 will bring me mainly to places in Europe. I will work part time in an office to save up money for a big journey in 2017. My plan is to apply for a working holiday visa in Canada that allows me to stay there for one year. And New Zealand is also top on the list!
